Social and travel arrangements.
Any injectable treatment can cause redness, bruising and swelling so first and foremost, be aware of this before planning any social occasions immediately after any treatments.
Please let us know if you have any travel arrangements within 4 weeks of your treatment.
Feeling unwell, cold-sores and pregnancy.
If you are feeling unwell, have any cold-sores or are pregnant, trying to get pregnant or breastfeeding you cannot have any injectable treatments. If you do not have but are prone to cold-sores, please discuss this with me before arranging any treatments.
Medications, dietary supplements, pain killers, alcohol and vitamins.
You must let me know if you are taking any medications or dietary supplements as some medications can adversely affect the way Botulinum Toxin Type A (Botox) works.
Do not take any painkillers that contain Ibuprofen (this only relates to any medication that is not prescribed by a Doctor.
Do not take any Alcohol or Vitamin supplements including St Johns Wort, Fish Oils, Garlic, Gingko Biloba, Vitamins A-E.
All of the above may contribute to bruising and are best avoided up to 7 days before treatment.
Make-up.
You must come to your appointment wearing no makeup and you must not apply any makeup for 24 hours after your treatment in order to reduce the risk of infection or irritation.
Post-treatment aftercare.
Redness.
Redness and red-bumps at the point of injection are normal and should subside after about an hour.
After treatment care.
Do not place any pressure on your treatment area for at least 8 hours post treatment.
Stay upright for at least 4 hours post treatment.
Avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise or extreme temperatures for 24 hours post treatment.
Bruising.
Bruising may occur a few days after your treatment and can take up to 10 days to completely heal. If you do experience bruising, Arnica is widely available and may help clear bruising.
Anti-Wrinkle Injections.
This treatment typically takes effect between 1-3 days post treatment and visible results can be seen at day 7 and by day 14 you should experience the full extent of the results.
A general ‘heavy’ feeling is normal in the first week after treatment. This is the result of the injection effect which start to relax your muscles.
If you are having your first Anti-Wrinkle injection treatment, a small adjustment may be necessary after day 14 to perfect the results.
